AquaTerra Depth Sensor

An insertion sensor with 3 sensing points at 25 cm, 50 cm and 75 cm. A second variant to 50 cm, 10 cm and 150 cm (or more) can be custom made. This is the second of three sensor and software offerings that AquaTerra has.

In all cases, data is recorded automatically every two hours and transferred via a Gateway to AquaTerra's web-app portal where clients can securely access the soil moisture and temperature data through their dedicated personal profile:

  • A one off purchase AquaTerra Gateway device is needed to collect data wirelessly from multiple sensors from up to 4 km away (free line of sight) and to upload to the cloud.

  • A small annual subscription to access data in the AquaTerra web-app from any device with an internet browser (smartphone, tablet, computer) completes the software offering.

Our hardware is priced per unit. There is an annual subscription fee per sensor and the data can be downloaded at no additional charges.

Installation process

The depth sensor requires a borehole for installation. After selecting a desired location, a borehole with a diameter of ~10cm is drilled and the sensor is placed. The depth of the borehole can vary to help in obtaining the soil moisture readings at different depths to the dedicated depth (i.e., 25cm, 50cm, and 75cm). Subsequently, the borehole needs to be backfilled. The sensor is installed by the user following the provided pictorial manual.
